The Anantara Resort is a 25-acre, 1.3-lakh-sq-ft hospitality development for EDSA Anantara in Zanzibar, Tanzania, completed in 2016. As an international beach resort project for the Anantara brand, known for luxury island and coastal resorts across Asia and Africa, the project required a design language rooted in barefoot-luxury resort architecture — low-rise villas or bungalows, extensive use of natural and locally sourced materials, and a strong integration of built form with Zanzibar's tropical coastal landscape. The design strategy would prioritise privacy and ocean views for guest accommodation, generous outdoor and pool areas, and a relaxed, indoor-outdoor spatial language suited to luxury barefoot tourism. Spanning 25 acres for a comparatively modest built-up area, the project reflects a low-density, landscape-dominant resort typology. As the practice's project in East Africa, it demonstrates international resort design experience beyond the Indian subcontinent.
